THERMONICS (1971)
Thermonics geophysical methods developed by Dr. William Turner for:
Tracing buried paleostream channels. (New Mexico, Arizona, Ecuador) Tracing movement of water through large earthen dams in the United States and abroad (Tarbella, West Pakistan; Wolf Creek, Kentucky) Tracing movement of petroleum product plumes in meandering paleostream channels Locating optimum well sites. COMPUTER MODELING (1972)
Creation and commercialization of digital computer models of ground-water systems for the Santa Fe Basin, New Mexico the Capitan Reef Aquifer near Carlsbad, New Mexico and the Tucson Basin in Arizona.
GROUND WATER TRANSPORT MODELING (1972)
Commercial computer modeling of ground-water contaminant transport using mixing cell methods in conjunction for litigation in the southern part of the Tucson Basin to track the movement of ground-water contamination from copper-mine tailings piles.
ZETA-SP AND ELECTROSPOT - LOCATION OF LEAKS IN LINED PONDS (1973)
Dr. Turner developed the Zeta-SP and Electrospot methods of locating leaks in lined wastewater impoundments. He has applied the method to pump-storage projects, industrial wastewater lagoons, and municipal wastewater aeration ponds.
UNDERGROUND INJECTION PERMITTING (1976)
Dr. Turner was the first in New Mexico to work on the permitting of a commercial underground injection well for Beker Industries in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Work included injection and casing integrity tests, aquifer analysis, and computer modeling of contaminant transport.
DISCHARGE PLANS (1976)
Dr. Turner prepared the first Discharge Plan in New Mexico in 1976 for Plateau Refining Co. and Beker Industries. He also carried out discharge plan studies for Phillips Uranium and Gulf Mineral Resources Corporations in the San Juan Basin of New Mexico and several large residential developments.
FIELD GEOCHEMISTRY LABORATORY (1978)
Dr. Turner was the first in the United States to field a mobile, laboratory grade, gas chromatograph with detection limits of specific CFC tracers of 0.01 parts per trillion. The laboratory was used for a number of projects including determination of sources of water at the Taos Ski Valley for the New Mexico State Highway Department; tracing ground- water flow beneath an earthen dam embankment at the Cholla electric power plant near Holbrook, Arizona; and tracing of sea water circulation patterns in an Alaskan fjord.
AQUATRACE - TRACERS (1978)
First commercial application of proprietary conservative CFC tracers in ground water now widely used by others.
SUPERFUND WORK (1981)
Dr. Turner was the first scientist in New Mexico to work on a Superfund site in 1981; namely, the Albuquerque South Valley Superfund Site. He has also carried out work on the Phoenix, Litchfield Superfund site for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where his task was to analyze all consultants reports, RI/FS and OUFS documents and to completely reanalyze all basic data to determine the party(ies) responsible for the TCE contamination and to assign liability. As part of this work effort, he was responsible for evaluating site history and use, the source of contamination, the extent of contamination, the rate of plume movement, and the mass of contaminant within the soil horizon and the ground water.
FIRST FUNCTIONAL WEB-BASED MARKETPLACE FOR WATER, WATER
RIGHTS AND WATER ASSETS (1999)
In 1999, WestWater created the first web-based marketplace for water, water rights, utilities, spring sources, bulk water, bottled water and other water assets under the name WaterBank®. The site has become successful because WaterBank® personnel are highly experienced with more than 40 years in the regulatory and business aspects of water asset marketing.
WATERBANK INVESTORS I FUND (2004)
WestWater, recognizing the need for a fund to create water-related projects and to support new water supply and wastewater technologies from the very early seed capital stage is in the process of assembling the WaterBank® Investors I Fund. The fund seeks to raise up to $25 million and it has identified three initial projects. These include support of a new desalination technology, a new drilling technology and the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Nevada. Other projects on the horizon include pipeline water supply projects and other technologies. The fund will commence in July 2004.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES
Dr. Turner through AGW Consultants has carried out hydrogeochemical projects and has specified drilling equipment for purchase for water development projects around the world (Bolivia, Zaire, Brazil, etc.). He has participated in the evaluations of multi-million dollar ground-water development projects in a number of countries (Somalia, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Honduras). Dr. Turner has conducted mine ground-water -inflow studies in Sierra Leone, China, Australia, and the United States.
Dr. Turner has provided and is now providing expert witness services in State and Federal administrative hearings and courts. He has provided invited testimony before committees of both houses of the Federal Congress and the New Mexico State Legislature.
Dr. Turner is an expert in the hydraulic analysis of spring systems. He has analyzed more than 60 springs worldwide during his career.
Dr. Turner is also an expert in water chemistry, photogeology, the valuation of water sources, water rights, and bulk water.
Dr. Turner through WestWater Resources has conducted historical research in support of water rights validation. He performs services as a landman in chaining and curing title to property and water rights.
